Albums

Toto's discography consists of 13 studio albums and 4 live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done work with other artists and on soundtracks for films. Toto has won numerous Grammy Awards for their work.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed session work for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs album from 1975 Silk Degrees. Toto was formed in 1976 in the wake of the collaboration.

The band's third album, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for the absence of hit singles. In 1985, the group's lead singer Fergie Fredericksen resigned, and the band held auditions to find a new frontman. The band picked guitarist Steve Lukather, and recorded Fahrenheit in 1986.

In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by re-discovering old demos and tapes to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and the band embarked upon an extensive tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem Von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour in support of the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In 2017, Toto released a double-CD live set titled Falling in Between, which included live recordings from the tour as well as an interview with Toto.
